Ok...just got home from a long trip...most of which was in the rain....when I took off the tank bra the tank had some very nice scratches....look bad too....HOW THE HECK DO I GET THEM OUT???...I tried Scratch X....and Mother's Scratch remover...waste of my time...ANY SUGGESTIONS???...WHAT WORKED FOR YOU??
There is a clearcoat restorer on the market. It works very good. Most of the time surface scratches are in the clearcoat and not actually in the paint color.
I used a soft buffing wheel on a drill motor. Run slowly and add a little of the compound onto the buffing wheel. Run it all around the area in question and don't be afraid to add more compound but remember you are not trying to grind the paint off but just buff the scratcjes out.

I am convinced tank bras do more damage than good. Had the same thing happen on my wide glide. Ended up taking it ot a shop and they re-did the clear coat.
