I used to use SOS pads on my car whitewalls and it worked good on them. It was recommened to me years ago. I have not used it on a bike tire though. There are products out there to keep them clean. I will be putting whitewalls on my springer when it is time to change my tires out. I am sure that someone here has a new trick to keep them clean and white.

The new Mothers foaming All Wheel & Tire Cleaner works great on whitewalls as well as wheels on my car.

For years I've used Bleche-Wite and that also works good, but it really isn't good for wheels.

Your mileage may vary.

Not sure of the proper spelling, but I use Bleach White, been good for me, but hard to find, some of the big boys like Armorall are buying them out of shelf space.

Westley's Bleche-White is what you're referring to... http://www.westleys.com/

The stuff works like magic. I started using it in the 70's as a teenager to clean the WW on an old pickup truck that my dad let me drive. I get it at AutoZone. Both my bikes have white walls and after trying other suggestions, this is what I've found to work the best. Easy on, easy off too.

Never had issues with it hurting my wheels or damaging the finish, but I imagine if it sat on the chrome for any length of time, it could damage them - but I would imagine the same could be said for all manner of tire cleaning products. For that reason, I follow the directions and rinse the residue off thoroughly according to the directions.

I tried the Magic Eraser with no luck. I probably missed a step.

I second the recommendation for Westley's. I've used Shout and have had mixed results. I guess it could harm the chrome but I hose mine off right away since it dries fairly fast and leaves a film if you don't.

Back from the dead.
Magic erasers (target brand here) are the absolute best. No chemicals, other than soapy water, necessary. I have always wondered if taping off the tires, sans www portion, and scotchguarding them would help keep them cleaner longer. Not sure how the rubber and the scotchguard would react... Anybody ever try scotchguarding the wwws? Opinions? Any chemical folks wanna chime in?
