Default My favorite product for cleaning black paint is...

Since I have new black paint on my bike(incomplete still) I am wonering what most of y'all use to keep it clean. I have read numerous threads onthe subject. My paint isn't new, so it does have some swirls in it(oh well). I have used mcguires numbers 1,2,3 paint cleaner, and polish on it, but that is it so far. What shall I use next? That is realtively affordable if possible.

There isn't really one cleaner or soap thats better for a black bike. Since you have a black bike now you will have to mentally prepare yourself for swirl marks. I few tips when washing your bike are:

1. Don't use circular motions. Use side to side motions.
2. Don't apply a lot of pressure to the paint. Dragging the towel across the paint will remove most dust and grime.
3. Use 100% cotton towels. Remove any tags on the towels (tags will scratch the paint). Wash them after every use.
4. Use a leafblower or air compressor to blow off excess water instead of a towel.

I have more tips but they are really ****. Let me know if you want to hear them?

If you are talking "cleaning" the paint specifically I use 3M Imperial Hand Glaze.

Sorry but I will have to disagree on cotton towels. The larger percentage of 100% cotton towels are sewn with polyester thread. Thats one bad point. If the were washed with bleach or had fabric softner, liquid or dryer sheets, thats another bad point. Cotton towels normally have broad loops that trap materials to the surface of the towel...another bad point. Granted there are some completely 100% cooton towels but they are very expensive and will still be inferior to micro-fiber. That being said you should wash with sheepskin and a soap bucket and a rinse bucket.
For the swirls as far as OTC products, your best solution will probably be Mequiars ScratchX and then go to #2 and then #3.

Using a sheepskin? a sheepskin mit wouldn't trap materials??? I do agree with the soap bucket and rinse bucket.

Sheepskin doesnt hold on the surface. Materials are drawn towards nap then released in rinse bucket.

I saw someone mention Turtle Wax F21 on here and decided to pick some up. That stuff is incredible, it hides all swirl marks and the bike looks showroom new.

Now I'm not saying its better than anything else out there because I've not owed a black bike before so I've never needed something to hide swirl marks before.

Something that I have found that works great on black....specifically.....is the Pinnacle products. I had tried for sometime various products to try to get that "wet look" shine on my vehicles. I stumbled across the Pinnacle line......kit included the wash, paint cleaner wax and detailing mist.
I have used it on my bike as well, and I can honestly say that the results are amazing. The finish is very very smooth and the paints looks wet, like you could stick your hand in it. Now, with that said, everyting that I drive is black, my wife owns a dark red vehicle and it works well on it too. It seems that it works better on the darker colors. It is very easy to use, no drying time, just wipe on and wipe off. The cleaner is non-abrasive liquid. It does reccommmend that you use a "back and forth" movement not a circular movement when applying and removing. I generally apply a couple of coats when I wax.
As a side note........it works great on my slipons as well
Just my '02 from trying numerous products for black paint..........good thing I found one Im happy with, .....many more bottles/cans of wax and my wife was on the verge moving me into the garage........well.....my bike IS there.....lololololol.
Good luck!

I have heard that pinnacle is great on darker colors as well. This website HERE has great info on the various waxes and such they sell. They have stuff for all vehicles.
