Considering getting short shots for my 07 street bob. Am I gonna have trouble removing bolts and o2 sensors? Original equipment never removed. Have straight shot slip ons on now. Any tips or tricks for removal if I pull the trigger?
No should come off easy. Soak them all in wd40 a couple of hours before trying to bust them loose. Take off the pipes before pulling the o2 sensors, just trace the sensors to under your seat and disconnect the wiring harness before you remove the pipes.
The only issue I had with the short shots is the O2 sensors. The stock sensors on my SB were way too small for the V&H bungs...something insane like an 18mm hole I think. Anyways, luckily mine were already bypassed so I just plugged the holes on the short shots with two 18mm bolts and some high temp silicone.
His is an 2007, just like my 2008 they are 18mm. Won't be any issues, will be a direct fit. They didn't change until 2010 I think. I have the short shot staggerds, I'm actually going to be modifying mine into a 2-1. Being right at my ear is starting to get a little annoying, plus I'm ready for something new.
Thanks for the tips. Installed short shots on my sportster but it was only a few months old when I did it. Always loved the look and sound. See all the bikes with full systems and I'm really starting to miss them. Let you know if I decide to do it.
