Default 2006 Dyna Recalls?

All -

I have been looking around these forums, and i've seen so many discussions about recalls to 2006 Dynas that i can't seem to make heads or tails out of t all. I know this topic has been discussed ad nauseum, but can someone help me out? I have a 2006 Street Bob that was manufactured in April 2006. Are there any recalls that effect this late model year bike? I know the neutral light problem was fixed. Does the tranny bearing still need to be replaced at 15k? Some problem with a bolt on the battery? I ran my V.I.N. through Harley's website and none of these problems came up, but, i'm just curious

Thanks

I've got an '06 SG Custom. I got a letter from HD about the Battery Bolt. I've heard that you should insist that the dealer replace the tranny bearing. If they decline you should get them to give you a statement saying they declined the replacement. If you ran your VIN and nothing came up then you may have nothing to worry about. As another step to soothe your troubled soul you might ask the dealer to run your VIN also and see if they come up with something.

Do you have the web page to run a VIN check?
Can't seem to locate it on HD's site.

Enter your vin here and it will tell you if there are any recalls due you. If nothing shows, they you are in the clear.

I ran the VIN on my '06 FXDI and it says to change the rear primary bearing every 15,000 miles. I thought Harley had this mess straightened out. What gives? Doesn't thier own website know what needs to be done, or is changing the bearing still in effect?

I called the dealer just a week ago and was told that they discontinued changing out the primary bearing as they were using the Dynas as a test bike for the 6 speed tranny and were replacing them at 15k miles to check for wear/damage. The testing (so said) is no longer being done and I was told that I wasn't needed.

I'vee run my VIN a number of times on the site, bt never came up with a recall, but have a letter from HD stating the battery bolt recall that I need. I believe that that on the HD site is to help you keep track of the service that is done on your bike.

That's total BS...................that guy is telling you a lie. Harley Davidson does not "test" transmissions by releasing them into mass production. There is a defect in some of the INA bearings used in that model and they adopted a "replacement" program for the transmission. Some people believe the bearing is too small for the load and others believe there were lots of manufacturing defects in the bearing itself. I am having mine replaced at 15000 no matter what because it is stated in my owners manual, on the website, and in a letter I have from a VP at HD. The MoCo did send a letter saying the replacement "program" was over. But the dealer is telling you some serious crap abouttesting the 6 speed.
