ECM Reprogram or not?
Also, corrections (biases) made in closed loop will change the fueling in open loop, so that gets adjusted too.
as my father used to say. EFI has been hard for me to wrap my feeble mind around too. I still have a long way too go to fully understand the programing. But i want out bought me a power vision tuner and started to play with it and things became some what clear. I often wish some body knowledgeable would write a book on Power Vision or for that part any make of tuning for the dummies . Setting up AFR's was very simple simple. But the timing tables is where i scratch my head at. in the days of my wrenching we had points adjusting timing was easy. Now you have a ton of adjustments at many locations all dependent on VE tables, rpm, load etc etc.
How the heck is a back yard tinker type such as me to fully grasp all this is mystifying to me. there is plenty to learn for sure and it seems the folks in the know about this stuff are mom on the advice. I can understand it though they trying to make a honest buck doing this work. But it sure be nice if there was a forum where tried and true map's could be placed where folks could both post there map's and also retrieve or review other's

I've owned 6 different HD's. Every one had some kind of tuner installed, except the last one, which I own now. I've spent THOUSANDS of $$$$$$ over the years listening to people tell me that I "need" a tuner. I listened and tried them all. Personally, I wouldn't use a Power Commander again if you gave me one! I had nothing but trouble with them, and my bike ran much better stock. With the last new bike I bought, I swore I wasn't going to go that route again. So I talked with dozens of people I know who have JUST THE DEALER DOWNLOAD, and every single one of them are extremely happy with it. My BIL has over 60,000 trouble free miles on his StreetGlide with just the download, and another friend of mine has 73,000 on his ElectraGlide. I installed the SE airbox, Vance and Hines Twin Slash slipons, and download, and my bike runs GREAT!! I've had zero problems in three years. No popping, backfiring, throttle lag......nothing at all. Clean, crisp, quick. For me, and most everyone else who has it, the simple download is cheaper, easier, and works great.
I truly have no idea why everyone bashes it. I've not met anyone who's had it that wasn't satisfied with it, unless they wanted to build their engine more. If all you want is a simple stage one, and nothing more, the download is the way to go, IMHO.
