I used a spay glue ( locktite 100)
More important than the glue though, I covered the entire outer shell with clear packing tape ... After I got the foam how I wanted it , I covered the foam with packing tape as well ... Fiberglass WILL NOT stick to packing tape ... The foam will be pretty much destroyed when you pull it apart but it comes apart fairly easy ... The glue isn't real strong which is why the foam was destroyed , but it also didn't melt the foam was why I used that kind .
Any foam stuck in inner or outer can easily be removed with a splash of acetone
I say go for it !!
I modded my bags myself with zero previous Fiberglass experience , then I built the facia / filler panel you see in sig pic ... Inner fairing was 3 rd fiberglass project . That stuff is so forgiving , need more add more , need less , sand it off lol .... It's cool too having totally one of a kind hand made parts on your bike .... Just do it brother !
Are your bags all glass or ABS with the glass you added? I ask because I have has issues with my ABS bond cracking and looking for a better way to seal up the modified area.
It was actually really easy to do .. Cut out what needed cut out , I them layed glass around 2 sides of a 2x4 , that fit the hole really close . Glassed in then bondo ... Here are a few pics , have to do one at a time on phone though
