You obviously need another garage, one for hot rods and one for motorcycles. LOL

Yes, the general manager and service manager at your Harley dealer are idiots. No, you don't have to "warm up a hot rod" at all as long as you're running a multi-viscosity synthetic oil (like we run in our Harley's) and even if we were to run single viscosity conventional oil it doesn't cause "lag and leap" and backfiring that is you problem. I was the crew chief on a (local) NASCAR race team and it was "fire and race" during practice session (races did have warm-up laps but not practice) without really allowing the engine to warm up. We built our engines a lot more extreme than any street rod. I'm going to guess the problem is with the electronic fuel management and ignition system so yes it's a problem related to the "tuning" of the motorcycle.

yeah even the manager with Harley customer care laughed at that one. I just sent the bike back again for the same problem......backfiring through throttle body on cold starts. when the bike was delivered to me yesterday it wouldn't even start!

Perhaps you can ask Harley Customer Care where to take the bike when the local dealer is incapable of fixing the problem. I'm thinking a different dealer if you have one close.
