Does anybody make a bracket or conversion kit to fit a Fat Boy or Heritage style front fender to the sliders of an '06 and later Dyna with the 49mm forks?
Presume you'd need to drill out the rivets that hold the mounting brackets onto the fender and replace it with a bracket with both mounting holes on one side of the slider.
This is on a wide glide front end by the way so there's space between the forks for the wider fender
I think I'm going about it in a whole different way. I've not seen another bike exactly like what I'm doing.
Follow the link I provided in my post above--at the top right- select group tools- and from there you can subscribe. I did my conversion recently, if you go to the last page and dig back 7-10 pages you can see. I read the whole thread (a couple times)--lots of good info and tips.
First off which front end are to talking about, the Mid-Glide, the Wide-Glide or the Fat Bob? All of them use the 49mm fron 06' to current. The Fat Bob and Wide-Glide both have the wider trees, only diffenece is the Wide-Glide has more built in rake and the Fat Bob has the same rake as the mid-glide trees. Mid-Glide trees are found on the Superglide, Low Rider and Street Bob.
Not sure if a Heritage or Fat Boy fender will fit between the legs of the Mid-Glide. I converted my Street Bob front end to the Fat Bob trees, ordered the Klock Werks adaptors to install a Smooth Deluxe fender (same as Heritage I believe). I still had to do some machining to the adaptors to get them to work, they where still about a .25 or so to wide to use. You can barely see the chrome adaptors in the pic below.
I am out of town, when I get back I will try and get some better close-up pics and post them.
It's a Street Bob, and I've fitted Fat Bob trees and a longer axle and spacers.
I've still got the stock front wheel on it at the moment. Next step is to have a 17" rim laced to the original SB front hub with a Fatboy 140/75 tire. The shop that will be building the wheel is in the process of relocating at the moment so that's on hold for now. No desperate hurry at this time of year though.
I've got an FXDF front fender to go on there as well but was wondering about a fuller fender hence me starting this thread
