I have a 2015 Fat Bob. The battery has just gone out for the second time. The first was a few weeks ago when I was at the advanced rider course and left the ignition on for literally five minutes for a water break. The instructor has been riding for fifty years, and he said he's never seen that. HOG paid for the tow, and I just paid for the new battery. Rode it home, everything was fine. Because of the cold, wet weather, I haven't ridden it for about a week and a half. I went down to the garage today to install my tall boy seat, and it wouldn't start. That's not long enough for the bike to deteriorate, right? Ignition was definitely off and locked. I'm going to call service tomorrow. I have an extended service plan (not like we're into extended territory anyway).
Is that too long to leave it? What could be causing it aside from inactivity? How pissed should I be? Ha.

I think your turning the key too far when parking, 2 stuffed battery's user error ????.. or buy a reading design switch and turn off your headlight, why pay for the battery , if its a 2015 then free under warranty. if the original was only flat a simple charge would have fixed it, they would off checked your charging system 1 minute too put a meter on it
Sounds like you have some sort of an electrical drain problem, hopefully your HD Service guys will try to troubleshoot a bit before throwing in another battery.
For some cars, if you leave the key fob near the car, the alarm will continue to ping the fob and drain both the car battery and the fob battery. Not sure if its the same for a bike.
I dont think leaving the bike unstarted for a week and half will not drain the battery. That being said, a new battery may not have been fully charged if your ride home was not that long.
I was wondering about this. It does indeed have security. It still seems a very short amount of time.
I live in an apartment and park in a commercial garage. Definitely not the fob.
Also not turning the key too far. Not quite that much of a noob.
well you paid for a battery while your bike is under warranty, my 2007 dyna with security , the bike can sit up too 6 weeks(interstate truck driver) between rides and fires straight up, standard battery,.. But I use the reading design light switch so my headlight is not constantly on during start up/or riding, I decide when I want the head light on.....
I've left my WideGlide in the garage for about two weeks off the tender once and then when I went to start it to go for a short ride, after rolling it out, then had to push it back UP the drive- way back into the garage. I won't do that again! Also keep the Fob at least 15' away as the crow flies so the bike won't recognize it.
