To deal with the buffeting though do some searches, quite a few people have had incredible success with a deflector attached underneath the lower triple tree where the headlight clamps on thus keeping the wind flowing under the tree and deflecting it downwards. Think of an upside down pie plate cut in half with the sides aimed towards the frame to deflect wind down.
And here's what the touring bike's center wind deflector looks like
cutdown & attached to an aluminum angle bracket to fit on a softail.
I also installed lower wind deflectors (fangs).

Hope this helps,

T.

robbyville: how do you like your fairing so far?
I only have about 15 miles with it so far. I like it a lot but as mentioned it really only helps with wind off chest and a bit off head. Shoulders were pretty exposed but I was wearing a floppy ski jacket when riding. Hoping to get out today with my MC jacket. It's great looking and will suit me fine but if I was riding on a tour would probably prefer a windshield that also catches bugs

I started out with the touring bike's center wind baffle
58520-79TC. Its about $28 or so. You can find them
on fleabay and the stock ones are already black. Its weird
to me that the stock black one cost more than the chrome
version listed in the P&A catalog.

good luck,

T.

I think you get a little buffeting with any windshield but they are worth the price when riding all day!

Bagged!
