Default reusing hardware on sprocket

is it absolutely necessary to buy new hardware when removing your sprocket and brake discs or can I just apply some fresh loctite and reuse the old hardware? seems like a waste of money to me.

I've reused the same bolts already with no issues. Just put some fresh loctite on it and let it set up overnight and who'll be fine.

It is highly recommended to buy new bolts. For a little money you will have peace of mind. Guys here have spent thousands in repairs due to sprocket bolts coming loose.

What people do not realize that when you torque down bolts they do stretch a little. I think that is why they say to replace them because it weakens them, For all they cost I would and I have myself.

It'll seem like a waste of money until the old reused bolts back themselves out and/or shear off and you end up doing a power slide into the ditch or into oncoming traffic. The manual calls for new bolts and they're not that expensive. You own a fairly expensive motorcycle but want to complain about a very minor cost of maintenance?

If you do a search for sprocket bolt failure you will see a pattern, 06, 07, and some 08, and a lot of chrome.
Also those years factory recommends replacement.
I blame it on cheap China bolts, in those years.
I am not replacing my 01 bolts for hds new junk.

Relax there pal. I'm not complaining about anything. I'm just making sure that this is absolutely necessary and if so why. I just didn't understand why you needed to replace, what seemed to be, perfectly good bolts to me. But from the consensus of the thread I'm gonna go ahead and change them just to be safe.
