I cannot get it the pinch bolt to thread. The spline thru the primary will no allow the pinch bolt to thread into the other side of the shift lever. Has anyone else had this problem? the shift lever will not slide on with the pinch bolt already threaded on. Im haveing a hell of a time k the easiest of things. This was a non issue when i installed my reduced reach fowards but now that im installing mids its hard any suggestions?
If I have understood you correctly, may I suggest...
remove the pinch bolt, then place the shift lever on the shaft.
The pinch bolt locates the lever on the rounded groove in the shaft, preventing it from falling off.
To assist in locating the ideal position, hold the through shaft secure from the inner primary side with a pice of wood, to prevent it moving inward wen fitting the lever on the shaft splines.
Hope this helps.
Sounds like the lever is not on the splines far enough or too far not allowing the bolt to pass the shaft in the grove to thread into the other side of the lever.
If it goes through and touches but will not thread I suggest taking it to the bench and either spreading it or pinching it and starting it there.
Then you should be able to position it on the shaft properly and start it. I've had the issue once or twice and that's how I corrected it.

I had an issue with my aftermarket shift arm and falling off on test ride earlier this year after switching to mid controls. Tap arm on with rubber mallet, then thread bold into arm. I had a hard time getting the bolt tight enough. I ended up going to slightly larger stronger bolt with nut on the back side. Shift arm doesnt wiggle anymore, solid shifts too.
