Yeah its a factory 103". I'll look into the 57h. I called RC Cycles a few months back and they recommended the tw222, then I spoke to someone else that said the bob woods cams make great dyno numbers but drivability range isnt optimum. Same person said to look at the S&S 551 and S&S 583. My head starts spinning trying to figure out what I want lol. I'll take a close look at the 57h though, seems to be a popular choice around here. As far as the tuner I think I'm going to go the TTS route, but still not totally sure on that either. Ugh.

I don't have a whole lot of experience with cams so take this with a grain of salt but..... The 57h was designed for the 103 and is much cheaper then a lot of other choices. (Andrews grinds a lot of other company's cams so don't look at it like its a "cheaper" cam. From what I've seen (again limited experience) the woods cams can make valve trains noisy and can be hard on lifters, at least the 555 is. Hard to say anything bad about s&s but you need to make sure those cams will be happy with stock compression and heads. The cam debate is as bad as the oil debate imo. I put the 57h in my bagger and it really woke it up, the bike runs great and pulls hard above 3k. In the end you may be talking about a difference of a couple hp (1 cam vs another) when doing cams on a stock motor so you have to ask yourself if a designer cam is worth an extra $150. As far as tuners, Rc likes the master tune above the rest and you can pick them up at directcycleparts.com for under $350. Your choice obviously just throwing my .02 out there, I know the choices out there can drive you crazy

The Andrews might be the route to go then. I was planning on going TTS just based on the fact that RC likes them so much and thats who I plan on having my tune done by. When I spoke to them a couple months a go they told me they prefer that over everything else. Being able to get it for $100 less is even better! Ha

Yeah lots of cam options to be sure. I only have my own experience to draw from Andrews 57h, I did the job more as a fun project. Didn't think I needed any power or torque but cant believe now how much better and more fun the bike is. Price is pretty darn good to. Can pick them up for just under $200 generally, $17 for bearings, and then you decide if you want new push rods or use stock. Gaskets, etc. I did mine for just under $500 once I bought then sold the bearing puller/installer. That included all new fluids and clutch spring as well as new PR's. A worthwhile change IMO but like you say the only thing more fun than reading about those bickering on which cam is best are those facing the great oil debate

Thats not bad at all. I'm not sure if I'll be doing it myself or not. I'm pretty mechanically inclined, but it still scares me ripping into my engine haha

I hear you, fwiw I've never been mechanically inclined and after my first wrenching (replacing my exhaust) I did the cams. Was my first time even looking inside a motor other than a plastic model when I was a kid. Tons of videos and helpful info to walk you through it. Save the 4+hrs of labor cost most fun time I've had. At the very beginning when I started pulling bolts I had a minute of what am I doing here, then got in and never looked back!

I might just go for it then. Are you pretty happy with the 57h?

Happy would be an understatement, but I have no comparison either

Just wondering what type chrome fork dust covers your have? They look a bit more low profile compared to the factory ones.
