Hey all. I'm picking up my 2014 low rider on March 15th so I'm shopping now for all of my mods. I want to run a stage 1, 2-1 exhaust and a mild cam upgrade. Right now leaning towards S&S 551 easy start, TW 222 or SE 204 Cams. My question is, since this bike already has a 2-1 do you think I gain much by going with a full Pro Pipe exhaust vs the V&H twin slash slip on muffler? On my limited I removed the head pipe because that is where the Cat was. On this bike there is no Cat in the header so I'm wondering how restrictive it actually is. What are your thoughts?
Therer is a cat converter in there for sure. Just changing the slip on won't remove the cat. You can mess around with cutting it out and save some scratch, not alot but some, it involves taking the system off cutting it and removing a bunch of guts and then re-welding it. IMO you should get a full un-restricted exhaust and keep the stockers in case you sell or need to reinstall them at a later date. When your tired of them sitting on a shelf shine 'em up and sell them if your not haveing any law enforcement issues due to noise.
Once you've gone as far as changing out the cams you're now at what some call "Stage 2". If you don't swap out the exhaust your bike will just choke itself to death and run like a turd.
Thanks for the replies guys. I'm gonna do the T-man 555 Torqster cam and V&H pro pipe and tune with a Power vision.
Great choice for the PV but I cannot attest to the other two components, though I have heard very good things about the propipe. Congratz your on your way!
I am also trying to decide on my exhaust, thinking of removing the cat on the stock,as like the sound as is, would like to go with a pro pipe or bassani road rage, however am waiting to find someone that already has one so can first see how it sounds, I do not want something that is too loud.
congratulations on your new ride.
Best stick to the pro pipe then.
The Bassani road rage are rather loud.
Wait until the bike nights or swap meets start this spring then you should be able to hear em in person.
