I am looking to upgrade my ignition module on my bike, get a few more revs out of it. Adjust to curve and timing. Something good with stock but that will be able to work well with mod's later in the bikes like.
2001 Carb'ed dyna
Only performance mods at this time are, Air filter, thunderheader, and rejet
Anyone with any experience, I could just buy what I think will work good but looking for some word of mouth
Well guys I was able to scoop up a Daytona twin tech ignition module with coil pack and wires for 210 new! Wasn't passing that up. Thanks for the recommendations, when I get home from Korea in 2 months I'll let you all know how much I like it lol
Good for you! Since your bike is what I would call Stage 1, start with the standard settings of "5" for initial timing and "5" for advance slope. Listen for pinging, and if none, let it roll. If you get a roll-on ping, turn the initial timing back one position on the dial ("4").
As you add more compression later, probably will need to take down the initial timing a couple of positions. "2" on initial and "5" on advance slope is working good for me right now.
Daytona Twin Tec is the Cream of the Choices but a bit more involved in Tuning .. For my Carbed Dyna to my eyes the Dynatek 2000 was the way to go set it at 38A and Runs like a Champ.. Better than the SE Module had in it before ..
At 38,have you noticed backfiring when starting every now and then?
Only a Very slight pop, can hardly can hear it, shifting gears maybe once out of 50 times and only then because gunning it pretty good at 3500 RPM + ..
Mine will backfire starting, that's it if I prime it.... Other than that kinda got to watch it on the throttle as in a slight turn it will lite up the tire, and same at the stop light some times
