at least I think I am. I'm not in a hurry, so my question is, will they be any chaper mid (even late) summer. Seems like bike prices are the highest in the early spring - if I can save $$$, I'll wait. I want a six speed, but don't mind used. Do all the new bikes sell at the prices Harley lists on their price?
What the dealers in my area do is load up the bikes with free "goodies" chrome trinkets that didn't sell off the shop displays...Than they pretend they're giving you a deal...Just pay the price and start riding the money you save will just go to feeding the habit you are about to get..Later
It shouldn't makeany difference. Street Bobs are a very popular model, so they aren't going to mark them up or down alot. The main thing is to find a good dealer (yeah, I can hear the snickering) and buy it! Ask people around your area which dealergives a good price. And then ask which gives good service, because it's not always the same answer.
If you wait until the 08's come out, 07's will be discounted at some dealers. Last year, a small dealer in Northern Wisconsin that usually lists their bikes above MSRP discounted new bikes, including the bob, by at least $1000 just a few weeks into August. However, if you buy now and put on 4000 miles in the meantime, I'd say you're making up for the higher price paid by actually getting to use it. I don't regret buying in the spring, because if I waited until mid-August I would have missed prime riding weather.
The ONLY reason there was a discount on last years models was because of the new 96", 6 speed and EFI in all models. I have never seen HD do this before. Don't wait around and waste a riding season hoping to save a few bucks. That 06 that SpecialEd has for $12500 looks like a good deal. Shop around. Used Harleys are getting much cheaper nowadays.
head west a bit... Winchester HD's has a beautiful new dealership... but they tend to add some chrome and jack up the price a bit. Williamsport HD sells them all at MSRP (which is where i got mine). if you come up this way, email me... always looking for an excuse to ride.
