You should not need adjustable push rods.
My guess is that you did not let your lifters bleed down before you rotated your motor and you have bent a exhaust valve and the push rod, hope I am wrong. That is why your exhaust is getting red.
Were you on the cam base circle and top dead center with the piston for each cyclender?
Please take note I am not an engine expert I do not know if that is problematic with stock cams like aftermarket .

Why would they need adjustables? Same item as stock just probably made in Chena.
He shouldn't need adjustables. I was responding to another poster suggesting that that was what he needed with these boxes. I responded that the ad would say so if they were required. It doesn't.
Personally, I also suspect that a valve may have tapped a piston and that's why the noise and other symptoms occuring now. I hope I'm wrong. Usually that cylinder won't even fire when a valve gets bent. (Mine didn't.)
