it is the heads that make the power and it is the cams that dictate where in the rpm the power will be. when changing cams you are limited by what the heads can handle. if you want to make good reliable power you should get the heads done first, then pick the cam that will put the power in the rpm range you want to ride, now get the compression the cam wants with a bore or milling the heads. to make it all come together and run like you want it will take some planning. talk with who is doing the heads and your combination will work much better. going out and getting parts from all over the place an hoping they will work is a waste of time. Make a plan, save your money and just do it. anymore questions just ask. danvanceracing.com

Wait till you can swing it and do both at the same time. You’ll be glad you did

And I say, don't be oversold. Stock CV is fine, stock heads too IF you're not revving the engine lots...combined with a good torque cam, decent pipes and maybe a good tune. I've been there with the triple digit HP/TQ builds and in fact, for my riding style, I wouldn't do it again. While it was nice to clobber other bikes on the street, all I really needed was to be able to clobber minivans and cruise smooth and reliably.
