Do i have to take the tubes out of the sliders if i just want to powder the sliders?
Yes. Unless you wanna just use appliance epoxy. Then you just have to remove the front wheel and caliper, mask off, scuff them up and spray them right on the bike.
You have nothing to worry about. Just take em apart like a rebuild. The upper tubes, the chrome looking, will not be coated. Only the lower legs will be. Use wooden wedges in the slots of the trees.
For the area between the trees I just wrapped them with 3M 1080 matte black vinyl. Looks great and has held up very well
I was going to suggest this. Like someone said before you can spray some plasti-dip on them. I have found the stuff easy to work with and pretty forgiving. Either of these options will not break the bank, and won't involve tear down.
I opted for the vinyl wrap instead of Plasti-dip because I was afraid the cables might wear thru the Plasti-dip. Carbon fiber wrap from Autozone $20 and ten minutes and done.
