Default Rushmore HO Cams in a Dyna

Has anyone tried putting a set of stock cams from a HO103 in a dyna? I'm not sure of the specs for the stock dyna cams but the ho cams are supposed to add a few horse to the flh. I believe the difference between the 13 and the 14(ho) is 5-8 hp. I'm looking for low budget options for a friend.

I tried finding the specs on the HO cams but could not find them. What I learned is that they are a relatively mild upgrade to the stock ones found in the 96" and 103" motors.

Personally, I would just pick out solid non HD cams that match the owners riding style and that work well with his engine plans. Andrews cams are pretty affordable.

Exactly what pilot said. You're still going to have to buy gaskets and push rods(unless taking head off) so you might as well spend a bit more and get more power and suited power band than going w/ the HO Cam setup.

Not worth it in my opinion.

^ As said above. If they were the best thing for cheap upgrade then they wouldn't be getting pulled all the time. Too much work and little to no gain compared to what a nice aftermarket cam catered more toward your riding style.

Bang for the buck, definitely better off going with a set of aftermarket cams and all the goodies. My friend is the sales manager at one of the local dealerships and she was trying to talk me into a SG Special...(i do love those bikes)...but I told her no. Well, not yet anyway. Haha. But she told me that the cams in the HO's are the SE-204's if I remember correctly.

From what I've read the ho cams are "similar " to the 255 cams but with. 511 lift.

That may be true(wish I had the exact specs) but .511 lift is a pretty small upgrade for a 2013 with a 103"(if I read your 1st post right). For the trouble of installing new cams(gaskets, o-rings, oil, inner cam bearings, time, etc) I am going to put the cams I want not anything convenient, just me....

Don't like SE 255s for a dyna either, sorry for any toes stepped on.

Agreed. If you are going through the trouble, might as well go with a better performer from the aftermarket.
