Default Injectors & Ignitions

Theres LOTS of threads/ discussion about air cleaners, exhausts, tuners and camshafts.

Im curious, is anybody running higher output ignitions or modified fuel injectors?

I ask because Im doing some reading on Andrews' website as I delve into the idea of cams.

It lists modifications in order of "increasing cost and installation complexity."

The list is as follows:

1. Relieved Air Cleaners
2. Free Flow Exhaust System
3. Performance Camshafts
4. Higher Output Ignitions
5. Modified Fuel Injectors
6. Larger Carburetors
7. High Compression Pistons
8. Big Bore Cylinders and Pistons
9. Long Stroke Flywheels

Seems ignitions and injectors would be pretty simple.

I know lots of people run big bore kits and do head work.

Maybe a discussion worth having.

Better spark and better fuel dispersion is intriguing and seems like it'd certainly be beneficial.

all the modern FI bikes ignition is controlled by the computer and the stock injectors flow just fine up to around 107"

now, on my 2001 i upgraded the ignition and put on a larger carb

I guess the same could be said about the stock A/C and exhaust but almost all of us change them.

The question is, is there any benefit to be had with better ignitions and injectors on FI bikes?

Better fuel dispersion or more efficient spark in the combustion chamber?

Do modified fuel injectors simply have a higher rate? Or do they vaporize the fuel better?

Or are these components more beneficial on built motors, and of no use to us regular folk?

Just a higher flow rate due to the need of more fuel for a larger combustion chamber when one bores the engine. Any ignition advantages/ needs will be made with a tuner, no need for different coils.

Thought I was on to something.

Makes sense.

Thanks.
