My evo is running 14 discs, open end cap with ported/flowed heads and Woods W6 cam.
The guys at SuperTrapp and even their forum will give you a good place to start. But all this talk about discs makes me want to try 4 more. So if anyone has some extra, please pm me.
Enjoy the performance!
Hey man, just FYI...from what I can see in that pic you don't have an "open end cap", you have no end cap at all, which is really going to hurt your bottom end because basically you have no restriction and no back pressure at all. With your setup the outlet is the same diameter as the entire muffler so no gas is even going through your discs. Here is what the "open end cap" looks like:
As you can see, the opening is much smaller than having no cap at all, which adds backpressure and forces some of the gas through the discs, which is where you really get the advantage from the Supertrapp.
I experimented with no end cap just out of curiosity, and it's extremely loud and torque is nonexistent. Put a cap on and you'll see what I mean.
Red Dragon.....do you have pictures of a closed end cap as well?
There are lots of pics if you Google it, but here is a stock pic of the closed cap.
I also just noticed that some companies are selling adjustable end caps where you just turn a screw and it opens or closes the outlet. Probably costs way more than they should though.
FXDX 95" with headwork and andrews 37g cams.
15 discs and open end cap (well, now that picture has me thinking I have NO end cap???)
anyway, havent played with it much but so far it runs good, feels strong throughout. I tried 10 discs with closed end cap and it was starved in the upper RPM. Was also almost as quiet as stock. Would like to try that "open" end cap pictured above though, hmm...
Ive also seen some that can be opened or closed with an allen wrench, which would be nice when coming home late at night. Might grab one.
The different options on this pipe are awesome.
I've got 18 disks in now on a stock 88", but still playing with the number of disks to find the sweet spot. Robby, what does Wide Open Cycles charge for a Dyno tune? They're right down the road from me.

Thanks Plow, great bike and Avatar by the way (wife is a die hard Saints fan, always been, grew up in NO).
Are you using the closed end cap and if so how is the sound? I want more quiet than what I have now (won't be tough), but not as low as stock.
Wide Open's usual price is $350 but give him a call. Worth every penny I'd say and I'm a fan of my electronic tuner FWIW. I don't know many other dyno operators but Skip's which is closer to me has a different owner who I believe is relatively unproven yet charges the same price. Chad at WO has a great reputation from where he came from and building here. He was also willing to experiment with my FP3 which I thought was really cool of him.

Thanks Robby. Tell your wife the Saints will hoist the Lombardi this season, lol. I'm running the end-cap. Just removed 4 disks this morning (now 14 total) and about to take it for a ride. More disks, means more noise, according to the Supertrapp website. I consider it fairly quiet at 18. I've got 21 disks on my RK Supertrapp 2-1 with S&S 111" and consider that quiet too, although it has a nice growl when you get on it.
I'll check out WO's later this year for a tuneup. Didn't know Skip's was under new ownership. They did my S&S install two years ago...

Awesome thank you!
Yep the new owner's name is Jamie I believe, super nice, they did my 1k service when Grove's couldn't fit me in on my schedule and before I started doing my own maintenance. I'm sure they still do good work, his girlfriend or wife was there too, very helpful. But, they wouldn't even look at tuning with the FP3 which bothered me since I would imagine any operator would want to learn about new products that more customers might have on their bikes. Their only offer was to sell me a new tuner. Whereas Chad saw it as an opportunity to try something new.
Ordered the basic open end cap just so I can play with it. I expect to start with the closed cap and some disks probably 20 of them and see how it sounds in all types of riding. Will I be happy or will I feel deflated by being less of a man. Depending on how that goes may try open end with fewer disks to see if I maintain torque and power and how much louder will it be
