This is probably normal, but figured I'd ask for input from those with external breathers. Just noticed this small puddle under the bike. Usually I'll get some water out of it, but this is the first time it's had this much oil mixed in. I did get on it a bit the last time I rode it. Is this what you guys are usually seeing?
Yeah, that what it looks like when the breathers are puking some oil along with the acidic water. Good high speed run on a hot day will do it every time on my bike. Be happy that crap ain't going into your intake anymore
I did an external set up too. Tons of post on it. Check your oil level. I keep mine at the 1/2 mark when she's good and hot. Never had any drops yet. In fact I ran some carb cleaner down the line the other day just to see if it was clogged. Got a small amount of oil residue which tells me it's working fine.

I have the breather bolts but same thing. I get oil if it's clear up to the full mark, but none of it's somewhere in between.

This sounds like you are underfilling your oil...which may or may not have something to do with why you are not seeing any drips from the breather tube. Oil level at the 1/2 mark with the engine hot is somewhere pretty close to 8-10 ounces low.
I fill my 2001 to the 1/2 mark when the engine is COLD and the full mark when it is HOT...checked with the bike on the jiffy stand...just like the manual calls for...
Thanks. That's what I figured, but thought I'd check. Had the dealer do the 1000 mile service, so it's at the full line when hot. I'd just assume run it that way, since the way I have the tube routed doesn't splash on the tire. It's just never had this much before, so I thought I'd ask.
