Thanks for all the info/suggestions. Think I'll pass on the safety wire and just slap a bit more tape over the rough parts. When it comes time to replace them, I'll consider the Big City Thunder...
You might want to rethink that. I had the quiet baffles in and liked them. Couldn't leave well enough alone and read too many ads for the Big City Thunder baffles. Had to order them. Put them in and Wow, they are loud. I didn't dyno the bike but, I didn't really need to as I could tell that I then had flat spots on the acceleration and a loss of torque. After about 600 miles of riding, I changed back to the Quiet baffles. No more flat spots and the torque is back. BCT baffles now sitting on the shelf reminding me everyday to sometimes leave things alone.
I have V&H Straightshot slipons with the Quiet Baffles (and think they are great)
When I picked up bike from the shop the mechanic gave me the stock V&H baffles to take home. He put them in the box that the Quiet Baffles came in. The box said BCT on the shipping label.
Looks like BCT makes the Quiet Baffles for V&H.
since this thread is near the top again - i'll go at it one more time.
hope to get my quiet baffles tomorrow.
after 2 weeks of riding with the stock baffles in the BSS - I hate them.
the sound sucks, cold bike seems to have a difficult time adjusting.
the BSS with stock baffles is a far inferior setup to the SEII slips - though it does look better.
If the quiet baffles don't do it for me - i'll have a cheap, lightly used set of BSS for sale soon.

I think you will like the quiet baffles. I didn't like the sound of the stock baffles that came in the pipes. The Quiet baffleswere much better sounding and I think I picked up some torque after installing them.
Hey Guys,
How much sound difference are we talking here? I took off a set of cycle shack slip ons and put on a set of vance and hines slip ons. Love the sound of them. Wish they were a drop deeper, but I am happy with the volume. Much better than the cycle shacks.
I removed the QBs from my BSS after 1 day because it reduced the volume too much. I did like the exhaust note though. I just wish it wasn't so quiet. Riding in my neck of the woods, you need loud pipes or the idiots on their cell phones will run you over.
You guys mentioned a "clanking" sound in the stock baffles. I seem to hear that on decel (along with the popping) Do the QB's stop that, and is the sound that much quieter?
I am hoping to run into someone in my area that has the quiet baffles installed, I want to hear them in person before making a decision. The majority of comments seem to state that they dont really quiet the sound, but makes it deeper. Which to me sounds like a good thing. I didnt think my piper were too lound in the first place, now I kind of wish that there were just a tad bit louder. I dont really pick up on a tinging noise as a lot of folks have stated, my ears might be too far gone....
I didn't notice much difference with just the QB's....I ended up adding smartpartz baffles also to lower DB's...On long rides the noise was just too much. Cruising the DB's are way down with them but if you get on it, it still gets loud. Just my two cents....
