I see Clearview offers a windshield that comes with a vent to help stop buffeting. I was wondering if anyone had attempted to install something similar in a regular windshield and if so how it worked and where they got it. Has anyone purchased the Road King CVO version and made it work etc.
Here is a vent you install yourself.http://rifle.com/Motorcycle-Windshie...-Vent-Kit.aspx
No experience with this myself-just thoughtI'd share. It probably works for some depending on height of rider and how far back you sit in your seat. $50 is cheap enough if you don't mind the look.

Ever try it? I ended up moving my headlight out even with the spotlights creating a gap between the windshield and headlight bucket thus eliminating the need for the PVC "ram air" system--- in my case for my height and sitting position. Some folks tried it and it made it worse or had no effect at all. It did work like a charm in my case.

I had forgotten about your post. Thanks for the reminder. I may try this instead of trying to find a GW type vent.

I was thinking about what you said., it worked for some and not others and was wondering why. My highly uneducated guess is it probably depends on what is causing the buffeting. If it's the vacuum created by the windshield, the pipes or a vent should work, as it should relieve the back pressure drawing the air back towards the front of the shield. However, if it is because your helmet is in turbulent air, shield is too small or curved incorrectly it wouldn't help because it cannot correct that problem. Hope this makes sense.

I just saw this and it looks like a pretty good idea. For $56.00 it might be worth a shot. HD`s new windshields for touring bikes uses this concept similar to the new vent they have in the solid fairings.
My question would be where on the windshield do you place it to get the most venting?
