So im new to the Harley scene as I rode a gsxr before this. I bought a 2015 street bob and just switched to vance and hines slash cut slip ons.
when I put them on the bracket that goes from both exhaust slip ons the holes don't match up for the new vance and hines ones. I shouldn't need that for anything right? seems like all it does is secures the mufflers together.
also when I decal now and roll off the throttle im getting a poping. should I be concerned? or how can I fix this? im planning on doing a full exhaust air cleaner and fuel pack this winter but I don't want to damage anything until then.
And last has anyone done the liscense plate relocation on this bike I boutght a bracket that mounts to the rear axle bolt but I don't know if I can just cut the wires from the existing plate lights.
That bracket is there for a reason. It keeps the mufflers from flexing and moving independently from each other. I've used it on slipons from V&H, Cycle Shack and Screamin Eagle and they all fit just fine. Maybe somehow you got the wrong mufflers.
Don't worry about the decel pop, it's normal, won't do any damage, and was there with the stock exhaust. You just couldn't hear it.
Can you post pics to give us a better idea of the brackets you're referring to?
The popping you're hearing is no biggie, just annoying.
Just to be clear, you've only changed to slip-ons, correct?
License plate relocation is real simple. Thing is, you've got to do something about the signal stalk. The OEM license plate bracket also serves as the spacer between your strut and left/rear signal.
You don't need to cut the license plate light wires. You can just unplug them from under your seat. The wire runs behind a plastic.... thing... on the inside of your fender.
Once you've got a new plate light figured, you can add new terminals to that wires, put on the OEM plug and route the wiring back up to the plug.
A pic of the muffler mount would help, but they should come off until you figure it out. I would put the stockers back on, with the bracket, before you leave some shiny parts on the road.
