Default Relocating tach to handlebars 2015 streetbob

Ok so I had another thread on a auto meter tach.

Didn't work with canbus....

So I'm relocating my stock tach to the handle bars

I have used an accutronix 1 1/4 bar clamp and 3 3/8 gauge mount

First step is going in the neck and disconnecting your harness that goes to gauge, ignition, fuel pump and dummy lights

So far I have extended my fuel pump and ignition section of harness

Have to finish the gauge section and dummy lights before harness is complete

Here are a few pics. I have extended 2.5 feet of cable. Way long but I want to hide the harness clip in the neck like stock

Ok so first pic is of stock harness stock length

Then with sections extended with 16ga wire. Soldered and heat shrink

Other pics of mounted speedo/tach to get my positioning correct

Eventually will get Harley's digital tach that has tons of color options

Ok. That took to long. 2 days at night. About 4-5 hours total. I ran out of solder so that added a lot of time finding a 24 hour store that had solder

So I'm going to blank the old gauge hole. As of now everything works. All connections heat shrink and solder

Really was not hard but still a little bit of a pain towards the end when I was tired

Was it worth it.... Hell ya. I always wanted handlebar tach on my last Dyna. Now I just need a fairing like all the other cool kids at school

Same thing I did on my old StreetBob. I have a plate I made to cover that hole in the dash.

I'd like to do it with my LowRider as well..

Added some pics on above post of finished install. No problems with can bus to just re wire the harness so it's longer. I made it way to long. But it's all good

Good to hear that there were no issues with the canBus system lengthening the wires with soldier. I was going to make pug in adapters to make min longer, but this may be way more efficient.

Looks good. Now you can make a cup holder out of the gauge hole in the dash.

Good work
Is it blocking your field of vision or do you look right over the top of it.

Not in my way at all. It's great having a speedo/tach in eye sight. Looking down all the time I didn't really like

You know, I was thinking a cup style holder in the dash. Something I could hold my phone in that's not on the bars

Here is another pic just because. Went out for a test ride and found some off road trails. It was pretty nice riding deep in the woods. Finally got an updated sig pic. I'm a fan of dirt roads and Harley's
