Not sure if they make a difference. I know that mine sounds better with the 2 into 1. Than when I had the V&H slip ons. Won't say about the power, as when I put them on I added TTS at the same time.
It has been my experience that 2 into 1 pipes make more low end torque than any 2-2 pipe. Each pipe helps scavenge the exhaust out of the other. I also don't like the equal length head pipes. That is why I went from a pipe with equal length runners to a RB racing LSR. http://rbracing-rsr.com/
I like this pipe much better than the previous one.
I used to run a set of V&H big radius pipes on my WG with a 107" Muscle kit from Zippers Performance and was pulling 98 hp & 105 tq. I knew that this exhaust set-up was killing the performance of the build so I purchased a D&D Fatcat and had it re-tuned on the same dyno by the same wrench and got it up to where it should be @114 hp and 117 tq. So you tell me, does a 2 into 1 really make that much difference????
I've written threads on this before, but on my previous bike (FXDC), I had Wood 222 cams installed, then tuned on the dyno with my 2-2 setup....the numbers were disappointing. Builder talked me into installing a D&D Fatcat, so I did, and he tuned the bike again on the dyno. The 2-1 was worth about 10hp/10tq, and totally changed the curves.
On my current bike, I'm running Wood 5-6 cams & a D&D Bobcat...love the setup & performance.
A good 2-1 pipe makes night & day difference if you're after performance, even without other mods. Although the gains from a 2-1 pipe will become even more evident if you do other mods such as cams, heads, etc.
The key is though....you have to have a good tune when switching to a 2-1!
I know a 2into1 makes more power but really at the end of the day how much more? Any one have any real world dyno comparisons? My 10 107 sg had a pro pipe and i loved it and was going to get one for my 14 low rider but it looks a bit big for my liking on the bike based in pics. Also wondering how heavy it really is. My lowrider build is way different then my sg will be and im taking notice of weight on anything i do to the bike. Looked at v&h comp short 2into1 but im sure that is going to be crazy loud but i know it less weight then the propipe. Magnaflows 2into1 are appealing aswell.
Really just want to make my mind up on a pipe so i can plan my build. I will say that alot of the 2into1's i dont like based on how the rear cylinder pipe runs forward and then back. "Like factory pipe". Really dislike that design. See more dual style pipes that i like so thats the reason for this post. If a 2into1 makes all around better hp and tq then ill have to live it i guess.
Nice clear shot of anyone thinking about rb-racing, lsr...14, fxdl
