I was poking around the internet and found some old school badges off older FXR's... Look really cool, but they only place that had them wanted $100 EACH!!! No f'n way. I'll keep searching, as I think the gold would look great. Not $200 great though...
Also, I found the perfect place for the tank to cure enough for me to badge it - in my office there's an electric room with our breaker panels, and... Two small transformers that keep the room at a toasty 90+ deg 24/7 - with no access. So I'll roll a small table in there and let her sit for the week before I put whatever badges on (yes, I'm actually considering the gold... sigh)
Which brings up another question. If the above badges are for a FXR, you think it will fit a dyna tank? I know they are curved, is why I ask.
And because this project is turning me into an OCD lunatic, here's a mockup of the gold badge. What do you think, gold or classic silver? (see a couple posts above for that mockup)
Looks identical to my wide glide badges except for being gold. Mine are silver. Mine are getting pulled this winter for some nightrain badges I got a while back. Don't buy off ebay. Get from any dealer for way less. Ebay wanted 65 plus shipping for the badges I got. From Kutter( now boardtracker) $44 plus $ 6 shipping.
I found the gold ones from a local shop (the one that quoted me $850 for the paint) for 30 each so I grabbed them. Not sure they are the same, as these are flat vs curved like the wide glide ones I got also, which are curved. I'll play around with bending them but not sure how they'll come out. I always have the silver to fall back on if I screw them up.
Rauchman, a local body shop that I've brought two cars to - A&C auto body in White Plains. They said normally $250 but since I've been there before only $175.
I wouldn't doubt if their off a Harley Edition Ford pickup.
I don't know that I've ever seen gold though. But you very well may be right! Or aftermarket badges to put on any cage.....?
Mchad: I like the gold a bit better I have to say. Gives it a little something. Maybe it's because maybe uneducated people will not think it's a WG.......? Either way would look good though IMO.

They are definitely HD parts -in the classic white plastic bag, but I tracked down the p/n to a sissy bar emblem. Oh well, I've been massaging them with a makeshift mandrel to get the curve, and I think I'm pretty close - at least compared to the wide glide set I have. I'll wait till I have the tank back before I do more.
I also found that the current softail slim has a nice emblem, which is bigger then the wide glide emblem by about an inch or so. I may pick up a set as well.
I went by the body shop today, as it was supposed to be ready. The painter told me they had to spend some more time sanding the sides to get the red off. He didn't want any under the new paint. So Monday afternoon now. I'm perfectly fine with that. Rather they take their time then rush it.

Sounds like you found yourself a good shop there. Those badges are plastic correct? If you do need to massage more of a curve into them try some heat also. Should soften the plastic a bit and then the curve should stay when cooled.

Nope, metal just like the wide glide ones. Identical in fact, apart from the gold and the flat...
