Ruined my weekend plans, S+S lifters arrived tonight and the side to side clearance was very sloppy, like a 1/16".
I called my friend that knows everything about Harleys and he said that was not acceptable so I already got an RMA and sent them back, and left a lousy review at Amazon.
Find someone else to sell that junk to. No wonder they were on sale.
Well now I wait for my refund and go somewhere else to buy lifters, not the S+S low budget $190.00 that I bought.
I did buy a new 1.6 kw allballs starter coming tomorrow. Sick of the stock one trying so hard.
I also picked up some new size 4 wire and ends to make up new cables for the new higher powered starter.
So I guess I'll be cleaning a deer and drinking some beer this weekend instead.

Not sure why everyone is worried about reusing the stock lifters. I mean if it were a complete build then sure but unless you got tons of miles just reuse them. A cam install is just a pitstop until the real build anyway.

Well actually my lifters are not noisy now. I guess I can make that decision when I have them in hand.
Amsoil is a wonderful thing.
With the Quickie push rods I wouldn't even have to mess with them.
Hmm

Either way the stock C lifters are garbage. Once a decent lift cam is installed the chance of failure is high. Not worth it for a couple hundred bucks. If your lifter bores are sloppy fueling does sell oversize lifters. It may not be a bad idea to check the bores tolerance. All companies have some bad batches sneak through.

S&S Cycle Premium High-Performance Tappet without HL2T Kit 330-0175

Decided to stay with S+S but went better.
Looked real hard at jims but near $100.00 each made me look harder.
Jims lifters need a high performance oil pump change. So they recommend.
Didn't want to totally break the bank.
I purchased a new 1.4-1.7kw allballs starter cause I didn't get easy start cams and the starter is not happy already. New # 4 wires to make up.
New lifter cover gaskets.
I didn't need the high output starter but bigger is better.
That should be enough supplies to complete my project.
More expensive than I thought. In both feet now.

At the end, you will have spent so much money as to buy a new bike.
But you will always have a used bike.

Need to look at some of the new prices! Plus new bikes don't run that great and are slow...

If I bought new I would just have to start all over again.
My bike is like night and day compared to stock.
I ride my bike a bit harder than most.
That's the nice thing about owning a Harley, most look beautiful but a few of them you can actually ride the **** out of and have a blast.
