Interesting. I use a Clearview with the Memphis Shade lowers for long rides/cold weather/rain and I still get terrible updraft buffeting. Better than previous setups, but its still bad. I've tried a ton of different options and never really found anything that works for me.

The final change I made was to remove my Tallboy seat which dropped me down a couple of inches. That was the final change that made the overall system work for me. Before removing the high seat I still had a bit but it was still much improved.

Great to hear and see! Looking forward to the over 70mph report, that's where my little guy starts to fail a bit (although still better than my old HD windshield).

What did you do about the lower riding positioning? I'm sure as hell not using the Tallboy for its rugged good looks! I feel like if I lost that extra couple of inches of riding height I'd be pretty folded up on her...

Not that I really need it, I feel like this is a good as any shield is going to get, and once it breaks 60deg on a regular basis, off it goes anyway!

I am not quite as tall as you so I can get away with it. I just switched to a LePera seat but have not ridden with it yet. It is even lower than the stock seat but puts you back as far as the Tallboy. The other day I put all 4 of my seats on the bike and compared the riding position by measuring from the chrome ring around the tach back to my crotch and by measuring the height of the seat above the battery box cover. The results surprised me a bit. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/dyna-...l#post14625196

Well I got my clear view shield in a couple days ago.

The first thing I want to say about my experience was that they stayed in constant contact via e-mail with me on and during the production process. Impressive...

They notified me during the last stages that the shield DID NOT meet their rigid inspection process (it had a small pinhole size "nick") in the surface of the lexan type glass about an inch above the headlight slot.

BIG DEAL.. they offered me a 'seconds level discount' on what I originally paid and I said ok no worries.

Unwrap the shield from the very well packed box it came in (they must get all kinds of remnant scrap from an upholstery shop somewhere as the packing insulation stuff was excellent packing material) and noticed 2 things it was an 18 inch shield. I wanted a 20. It also didn't have the 'bend back' at the top of edge of the shield that I wanted to 'turn' the wind more effectively.

So I didn't unwrap anything any further and re-boxed it and have re-contacted Clearview through email advising them of this conundrum. I am yet to hear from them so I can get it shipped back. But it is around the holidays right now and a Sunday so I hope I hear from them this week.

So far a great company to work with. It was a very THICK shield and seemed to be very sturdy and heavy built. I hope the stock attachment hardware is long enough to still attach through this shield.

Will keep y'all updated.

I recently got my new CV shield from their recent sale. I ordered the following for my '16 Road King.

18" Recurve, light tint, extra wide (+3")

For reference I am 5'9" but with 29" inseam, so I sit like someone who is a bit taller. Here are my observations:

1) I will echo all the other positive comments here about email communication and the shipping box packing - both A+

2) My shield is perfect in all aspects. First thing I noticed when holding it was how stout and firm it is. Calipers verified this with CV thickness of .185" vs stock .125", so just about 50% thicker. I could easily flex the stock shield an inch back and forth, but almost zero flex with the CV shield.

3) Taking the King windshield brackets apart is cake. Remounting the CV shield is a borderline PITA, but thats not the CV shield fault at all it's just the nature of the beast of the brackets. Just an FYI, this operation is much easier done with another pair of hands to help you.

4) My one and only ride so far (about 15 mi before snow hit here) proved that the CV shield is awesome, and totally shames the generic stock shield. At 60mph the airstream just barely breezed over the top of my modular FF helmet (I put my glove up to feel it). There was zero buffeting unlike the horrible buffeting from the stock shield. Side airflow goes just over the tips of the levers with just a slight amount on my pinkie finger. This is exactly what I wanted especially for rides when it is 60F or cooler, so the extra $40 for the wide option is way worth it. Remember, on hot days I can just leave the shield at home for full on air flow.

My advice to any King owner is to ditch that craptastic HD shield stat, and buy an aftermarket one. Yes, even before buying a 'bad ***' sounding exhaust, an overpriced fancy air cleaner, or a bunch of chrome farkles.

Photos as follows:
1) Stock on the left, Clearview on the right
2) Clearview on top of stock. Notice the different outlines
3) CV on the bike (with wrapping and stickers still on for test ride only).

Well I ended up talking with Craig at CS and after explaining to him that I needed the 20 and not the 18 and that I had received and the fact that the windshield I had gotten also DIDNT have any type of recurve, he told me no problem. He added that it appeared to him that someone else may have received my windshield by mistake and that he would send me a UPS shipping label to return the wrong windshield and that he would set to making the correct one for me at no extra charge.

I also received a check back from them in the amount of $30.00 because I had accepted the 'second' that the windshield ended up becoming because of the pinhole.

So far a fantastic company to deal with. I sent the 'wrong' windshield back to them recently and am awaiting its replacement.

I will update my experience accordingly.

Much thanks to the OP for starting this thread allowing those of us who have chosen to do business with Clear view Shields, the opportunity to document our experience.
