Default Exhaust stud likelihood

Exhaust stud brokearrings while riding (broke just behind the nut). Got a new nut, rode it home. It's the very front most stud. Can't a straight shot at it cause of the frame. Tried vice grips, shredded the threads. Tried make a groove in the stud to use a slat head, no good. Tried heating the local stud a bit and then the flat head again, same for vice grips. Still no go. Any other ideas, or will I need to pull the head to get a better shot at it? Thanks for any and all in put.

2 nuts jammed together would have worked if you didnt goober up the threads with the vise grips. might still work...

And make sure you heat the head, not the stud.

Two nuts jammed together and then turned with a wrench might have worked. It also might have just broke it off shorter. Next time, try the two nut trick, it's not a guarantee though. Should have used some penetrating oil also.

That's why I asked, but I'm not taking it somewhere to have them say the head needs to come off, not paying the labor bill for something I can do myself. Was shooting for the off chance of a new idea.

Not understanding how the two nuts jammed together will twist out the old stud...

And I was heating the head

At this point, what I would do is heat up the stud until it is glowing red, then let it cool down completely. This should loosen up the corrosion a bit.
Then let some high quality penetrating oil soak in, at least for a few hours.
Then clamp on a good pair of vice grips as tight as you can, really really tight.
Then apply pressure clockwise then counterclockwise until it either unscrews or breaks off.
If it breaks off, then drill it out.

To use this technique, thread on two nuts then tighten them against each other. Using a wrench on the bottom nut, turn it counterclockwise to remove the stud.
First thing though is to let some penetrating oil soak in then clean the oil off of the stud so the nuts aren't lubricated.
