Need Help! Wide Glide leaking Oil
Right where the tranny connects to the motor on the top is wet with oil.
The bottom is dry (underneath)
Any one else with a newer Dyna experience this?
Probably just a gasket and a ton of labor I'm thinking.
I know the old saying that "all hd's leak oil"
I thought that it would at least take more than a few years to start.
It's not like a pool of oil or anything, but it's definitely oil.
Bike's still under warranty, so I'm not too concerned.
Any responses would be greatly appreciated.
Thanx

If your 06 leaks any oil at all, I would be corncerned.
These newer machines are so well engineered, sophisticated gasketry,
precision machine work on all the fitup, seals are two three steps above high tech,
etc etc.
They do not leak - unless - there is a problem.
The issue you describe has been discussed here before -
in the last week or maybe two, I would say.
The way I read your posting, pic below is the issue.
If so, this is not a leak.

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA
I have never seen a drop of oil under my 06 dyna, for that matter,
I haven't seen a single drop of oil under any 06-07 dyna.
I've examined many of the seals, gasketry, and fasteners on these machines,
and they are way good.
What are you ridin??

FYI...I ride a 98 WG. And even though I do love it as well as the others I have ridden, (I'm gonna get flamed for this) Harley's are engineered near as well as the majority of the other makes out there. Sure...they've done a couple different things from their previous rides, but there's not a whole lot of new technology when you compare them to the "rice burners" of today.

the oil's actually leaking from the seam to the right of the spot on your picture.
I talked to my dealer today, i had to make an appointment to have the recall on my bars done,
they said that they'd look at it when I bring it in.
He didn't seem very concerned.
I'm confident that if there's a problem, they'll address it.
I wiped the spot down, took her for a burn, and when I got it home there wasn't a problem. (more oil)
i got to check it again tomorrow.
mtnlvr,
