Glad to see you got the tb on. How did the seafoam end up working on the carbon build up?

Not bad, I left a rag soaked in it on top of the piston heads. When I got home from work I started to scrape and clean. Then noticed that while I was positioning the pistons to clean that I had moved the cylinder a bit. I freaked out because I didn't want to remove the cylinder, replace rings, etc. So I shoved it back down, said "screw it" to the seafoam and got the heads back on!

I figure I'll do what you said and run some of it every now and again through my gas.

Of course now that I have to work during the days, I'm only spending like half an hour a night working on the bike. I told my wife this morning that I only have a couple of hours left and she gave me the eye waggle of disbelief since the TB took up so much of Sunday.

I need her to go back to the Ambien, then I can get up after she goes to sleep and work late at night lol

LOL Awesome shot.

Mine grew up in New Orleans, it takes a lot of anything to knock her out!

So understanding that when adjusting push rods we're getting them to roughly half their travel, if I only turned out 18 flats and then realized that I should have done 20 flats, is that a big deal, should I go back in? If I do go back to I need to loosen everything off all over again and get back to TDC or can I just extend them the 2 flats? This is on my rear cylinder, the front lifters are correct.

Should be fine but can't answer how much travel you're giving up without knowing the TPI of your pushrods. I think myself and most anyone sets theirs deeper than half travel, I usually shoot for 0.130" (out of a max 0.200").

I think those are 32tpi. So for 20 flats you'd be looking at 1/32 * 20/6 = 0.104" lifter preload. For 18 flats you'd be looking at 1/32 * 18/6 = 0.9375" of preload. Personally I'd want them deeper than that if you're positive about adjustment just turn it another two flats.

I would still adjust the prs at TDC Compression - it should be a bit easier than fighting against spring pressure with valves that may be open, plus it is a good habit pattern. Don't rotate engine until after bleed down time.

I agree with Matt, a little deeper than half is better. Can't remember what I shot for but .120" - .130" should be great.

Sounds good thanks guys.

The S&S instructions say 24 flats but the video says 20, any thoughts? The motor is still at TDC so I should be ok. Can't believe I made that mistake! I'm going to re-do tonight.
