There's no difference between frames or front suspension in the 2008 FXDL and FXD (Low Rider and the Super Glide). Rake and trail are identical.

The better handling especially above 80 mph is in the rake and trail of the front suspension. Got ride of the Road Glide and have the Low Rider, Fat Bob and a Street Bob. All three of those are great Dyna's to have.

But just get the one that speaks to you.

According to Harley's literature, the 08 Low Rider has a 30.5 degree rake.

This is cut from page 4 of your link

Rake Steering Head/Trail 29° / 4.5 in.

The frames and front suspension are the same on the 2008 FXDL and FXD. The rake and trail are same between both models. Sometimes when we expect a difference we get it, but not because of science. To put things in perspective, a 30.5 degree rake wouldn't corner as well as a 29 degree rake. Older 2002 FXD and FXDX models have a rake of 28 degrees.

There IS a difference in rake and trail on the Wide Glide and it doesn't use the same frame as the other Dynas.

47464-06BHP FRAME, 34 DEGREE RAKE

That's what I thought 28*, Willie G did it on the first one in the 70's for stance and handling, but when I did a quick search they both showed 29*. Guess I need to check more than one source in the future.... but then again "I may be right or I may be crazy"

"49 mm Front Forks with 30.5ş Fork Angle"

49mm Low Riders use the same 29° frame, but also use "Low Rider Only" trees with approx 1.5° rake.

I have a set of all those 49mm trees...FXD/B (with & without integral risers), Low Rider, Wide Glide, Fat Bob...all different

Take your time. When I decided I wanted an FXDXT (years ago now) it took 6 months and a 1000 mile round trip to get the right bike. Also, knowing what you want will help in any decision. You've got some nice roads in your neck of the woods, better than up here on the edge of the prairies for sure. Intended usage? Low miles bikes are always a good find, and well maintained is important too. Happy hunting

I have to ask. What is your riding experience and mechanical ability?
$2K - $3K and some search for best part prices can completely transform any bike, if you have a fair mechanical skill set. If you don't have any skill search until you find exactly what you think you want. Chances are you'll still change it up.

The above are before and after LowRider Evos final $$$ less than $5K - $6K - Sales price +$3K ater I rode them a year. It's all about what you want and what you can do.

Not me, the one thing I dislike about my Wideglide is the rear fender. Would love to change over to a Switchback rear fender.
