Looks great. I like the curvature of the bends, the longer radius of the vertical and the shorter radius of the horizontal ones.
Thanks. I always hated how the two boxes were so different. I actually prefer the larger radii of the original electrical cover but making a look alike for the battery box would make it even more bulky. I'm trying to slim things down, so I went the other way.
Early on, I was thinking of going to a lithium battery to make the box smaller (and save weoght) but I haven't read many good reviews of those.
Yeah, I clamped the screen between two heavy plates and smacked the plug with a hammer. Worked OK. A press and a closer fit between plug and plate would help, but I don't have a press and didn't want to make a new plug. It's good enough. Everything will be black anyway.
When someone walks up to you "out on the road" and says "Hey, wouldn't it have been better to form those vents with a Press and a bigger plug?"...you'll know he's a HDF viewer (but not necessarily a member)
I thought the plate under/behind the seat was a cool idea...I may borrow it.
Have at it! Muddyape and Pete are the two guys that really inspired me to take this journey. Dyna is a good platform but isn't the most aesthetically pleasing Harley. I honestly prefer XLs but they're a bit too small for me.
That is 100% sick. Awesome. Can't wait to see it finished
Thanks! "Finished" is a long way off. I'm working on a pretty tight budget and like expensive parts... I will have to take a break for the summer/fall to both ride and save money.

. I also wanted to press in a raised panel on the big side but I just don't have the equipment. I need to get a brake, slip roll, and bead roller some day.

Nothing too exciting. Spent some time on the lathe last night and modified my Vulcan pulley adapter. Faced it off to 1" thickness and reprofiled the register boss to fit the stepped bore in the pulley. Also tapped the 7/16-14 holes thru. No pics. It's out in the garage and I'm lazy. I was painting the brake rotor and pulley and needed it for the masking.
Also made the final axle spacers. 1.5" OD x .755" ID 6061 aluminum with .107 thick stainless inserts pressed flush into the bearing interface end.

Got the Mikuni carb "hidden" brackets fit up over the last two nights. Still need to blast and paint but here they are. Kinda ugly but they are barely visible. They bolt to the back of the carb and wrap around the sides to anchor at the breather holes using Lowbrow breather bolts. I'll get more pics as I get them painted and installed...
They are .050 stainless and really stiff. The breather bolts pull the carb down into the gasket with not a hint of flex and I can rock the bike back and forth on the lift using only the carb.
