I got this new LED tail light today it looks nice and doesn't feel like cheap plastic but not sure if it has license plate lights, it had some little things right underneath the place for them here are some pic's. I'm at work and bike is at shop so won't be able to tell til tomm if they light up. Let me know what you think.
Thank you very much, i was worried for a minute figured id have to wire up some kind of led strip inside there. I found this one in the US where most of the other ones were out of the country so i ordered it even though i really wanted smoke. I ordered some spray tint. Going to tape off license plate lights and put on a coat or two of spray tint then tape off the tail light area and spray some more coats on the rest of it.
Too late to save you money, but maybe not too late to save you happiness...
I've used the spray tint...it's *****. Try tinted vinyl film. Kinda like window tint, but flexible so it can conform to irregular shapes. I did my clear turn signal lenses and I'm extremely pleased. Takes a bit of patience and a heat gun helps tremendously, but final result is head and shoulders above spray tint, IMO.
Thanks for the forewarning, that kind sucks but was only 10 dollars, what was the problem with the spray tint it had good reviews was part of the reason i bought it. I believe you that it was no good just wondered why. Might just run it clear i guess, i'm not sure that i could get that film to lay flat with all the corners and edges on the tail light.
Either way it's all down to technique. Either could look great or crap. If you're a whiz at painting then the spray tint may be perfect for you. Most people aren't particularly good painters and with a translucent spray, film thickness is critical. Then you get the added complication of surface finish (orange peel, dry spots, runs, fisheyes, dust, etc.) Fortunately the part is small. That makes even coverage easier. I'd spray it with power applied or on a lighted surface so you can better see the effects of your coverage.
Hmmm. Well i guess i could try it and then use paint thinner to take it off if it doesn't come out good. Thanks for the idea's. I think with the curves and edges the tint film would hard to get flat especially on and around the corners but since i've never worked with it I'm not sure. I could have just ordered a smoke one but ordering stuff on ebay from china or wherever the others were from seems to take forever. Plus this one was one of the lowest profile ones i could find.
If you notice the bottom of this one is way thinner(lower profile) than that one, most of the reason i ordered this one was it was as low profile as i could find. They had one similar but was hong kong or china. I might just leave it clear for now I'm kinda digging it, not as cheap feeling as i thought it would be its nice heavy plastic.
