I wasn't sure if I would ever create one of these threads because of how long it takes me to be able to do anything to my bike. But maybe it will give me incentive to keep this up to date with all the fun things I will eventually do. So far I have only installed a bassani road rage 2-1 exhaust. I just found a great deal on a SE Heavy Breather Performance Air Cleaner which should be here this week. I plan on powder coating it gloss black to match the pipes and then I can also put on the final heat shield. The massive stock air cleaner is just that...massive. Need to either take it to Harley or a local dealer for a dyno tune or I might look into a fuel management device. Problem is there are so many different opinions and I really don't know which route I feel will be best. But enough of that...here are the stock photos from the day I bought my bike and then one after the install of the pipe. Next mod will be forward controls because I am a tall guy (6'3") and then 16" apes. Once that's all done it will probably be some more engine work. I might as well make it scream.
Update April 8, 2017:
Got my Nash Gimp 16" apes installed today. Took a little longer due to certain hickups on how I was putting things back together. But all in all it wasn't bad to do and saving $400 is always a good thing. I should have gone a little shorter with my brake and clutch cable but that is ok for me. Also installed upgraded plug wires and decided to go with red just to have something standout. Next I need to relocate those turn signals and I probably should have done it now but I didn't want to spend more money just yet for a relocation kit. So that will happen this summer. On to the photos.
So far I have done quite a bit. I changed out the stock AC for a SE heavy breather which I rode for about 2 months. Problem was once I had my forward controls installed my leg would hit it because I am 6'3". So I had to sell it and I picked up a DK customs 587 sano black AC with breather kit. I really like this!! I also have installed kuryaken mini floor boards and tomorrow I am installing SG black air shocks for the rear. I have an el hefe 30" sissy bar coming on monday which I am really excited for. Bars will eventually happen towards the fall time and I have to get a two up seat for whenever I find a girlfriend.
I will eventually have better photos. The last one was a few weeks ago hanging out on the island and having a margarita.
I took some better photos after installing the SG air shocks. I have to dial them in a little more but I think they will be a good upgrade based on the cost. Black is so much better than the chrome I started with. I will have some chrome as accent color but majority of it will be gloss or wrinkle black. I am pleased with my progress so far. Also, one day one of my boys will probably own this bike.
Alright, my bike is coming along. Received my 30" slim fabs sissy bar and mounted it today. Now I need 16" apes and some black mirrors and levers. She is coming along nicely.
The wife has the identical bike, color too. We kept the mids for her and just did hwy pegs though. I noticed on your one photo that it looks like you turned you license plate frame vertical instead of horizontal...did you modify the stock one or is that an aftermarket one? I ask because I think it would look better vertical, plus I'm sick of catching my pant leg on it as I walk around the garage.
Also, we did the SE intake with the stock cover - but her hwy pegs were almost unusable, so I did away with the stock cover and got an HD decorative cover and bolted it to the filter - looks ok and provided some more room for the knees, but it still seems to stick out way further than my 09 fatbob with a big RSD intake. We always kicked around the idea of forwards on her bike, but shes concerned her knee will permanently rest on the intake if we do. I even went as far to shim the hwy pegs out an entire 1".

Would you mind telling me what part number is on the SG shocks you put on? I had RK shocks on my sporty and am looking to do the same upgrade on my new SB.
