Default Which Dyna

Hello to all the Dyna riders that have ridden fat bobs. I have a street glide that I love and have spent the 8 months getting setup just the way I want it. Now I want to add a Dyna to my stable. So here is my question, I love the look of the dyna fat bob. That said I wonder about how it handles compared other dyna models. It would be my short ride bike. Back and forth to work and bar hopper through the foothills with twisty roads in between destinations. I love the look of the softail breakout but think it would be crap on twisty roads. Your input is appreciated.

Fat Bob is a great choice for twisties canyon riding. The larger front tire will give you improved confidence if you are a high speed agressive rider

Street bob...as the name states, better for street and has no problems in twisities either...but more of a modest speed is recommended since that skinny front at high speeds does not give me any confidence.

Never ridden the low rider...so can't comment on that.

I wouldn't touch any bike with a long rake if you are going through twisities regularly.

I'm new to the Harley world, I've ridden sport bikes for 20 years. With that being said, I purchased a new (last year left over model) Fat Bob.
Ironically, a week after I bought mine, a very close friend purchased a 2016 Street Bob.
So after the last few weeks, I have had an opportunity to spend quite a bit of time around each model.

I initially went into the dealership, with the intention of purchasing a Street Bob, and after seeing the FB beside it, I settled on the FB. Now, on to my take on the differences.
I do feel the SB does win out in the "cool" factor. Walking around both, I find myself liking the stripped down look of the SB, and I actually like the lines of the bike better with the taller cookie cutter front tire. Sometimes I'm still on the fence about the rear fender on the FB, (but the modern look is growing on me)and I am struggling with the body lines on the FB. The entire bike from tip to tail, has that low fat look. I've always been a fan of the drag bar front, and sloped downward to a slammed *** end look. Cosmetically, I have to give the advantage to the SB.

Now on to the performance, I am 100% in love with the ride of the FB. The thing rides like it's on rails, it corners like a sport bike, feels extremely planted to the road, and from the seat, to the bars, it is an absolute joy to ride. It's fun, with gobs of torque, and feels like made for my body every single time I throw a leg over it. From quick rides to work, to day trips, I can not say one bad thing about the ride or comfort.
The SB on the other hand, IMHO, is actually quite uncomfortable. The version my friend bought has mids, and the mini apes. You feel the road considerably more, and the probably hour or two I've ridden it, I could not wait to get back on my bike. My friend even commented on how the FB was so much nicer to ride, when he borrowed my bike to run to get parts for his.
I am however a taller thin build, so the forwards really are more comfortable for myself.

In the end, coming from someone who's opinion doesn't mean squat, I'm happy I by chance picked the FB over the SB. If I had to explain it, I would say the SB reminds me of a barhop bike, and the FB for me, is a true riders bike.

Obviously just my .02

Pretty much bang on review. I also been riding sportbikes the past 15yrs. FB symmetry and tires are closer to a sportbike.

I own the SB...primarily cause my hwy riding is fairly limited to the weekend blitz through twisities. If I was doing more hwy and canyon riding I would of definately chose the FB.

Good points brought up already except unless you have pretty long legs and you like to corner - switch the FB to mids, big upgrade for me.

5'10 and under you will enjoy mids. I can't imagine anyone taller than this with mids.

Get the FB and then take that ugly-*** monstrosity of a bug-eyed headlight off of it and replace it with an OEM 7" single headlight. Then you'll have bike that not only handles extremely well it will look a thousand times better as well!

Looks are the only thing people complain about on a Fatbob. If you like how it looks you are good to go. No better choice for handling.

Fat Bob all the way. Think about it. and I'm not just saying this because I own a Fat Bob. But if you were to take a Fat Bob and a Street Bob, and run them directly into each other, then the Fat Bob would be intact while the Street Bob would explode.

Seems like an easy decision to me!

I had three 100mph head-on collisions with Fat Bobs just this past week and both the riders and their FB's exploded all over the place!

The only thing I had to do was wash FB and FB rider guts off my fairing, they didn't even rub my wax

I'd get that LR-S and change a few things, and then a few more things, and then probably a few more things but yep, LR-S
