cam chain tentsioners
Hi Everyone
I Bought a 2003 Dyna last summer and noticed at the end of the season the engine was getting noisy in the lower end. Didi some research and figured it was the cam chain tensioners as my bike has 45K on it. Sure enough pulled timing cover off and both inner and outer were worn out. I was going to put new bearings in as well replacing the rear cam with a roller bearing. I looked and it already has one. Did the stock bikes ever come with a rear roller bearing or can I take it form this it has been serviced at least once before?
Thanks Bryan

1999 and 2000 came with ball bearing on the outside of the rear cam....2001 on has roller as stock.

1999 and early 2000 models had a ball bearing outer rear cam bearing that caused some failures. Don't worry OP, that change to a roller bearing happened in 2000, your 2003 undoubtedly came stock with a rear outer roller bearing.
