Ahh gotcha. Mine aren't welded together on my 2015. separate pieces. Gluck. One thing Ive learned...universal is rarely universal without some fabrication or tweaking lol.

Thx for the other reviews on the 10lb. I guess I'm jumping on this hd rack now.

Hmmm...I just bought the docking hardware, short sissy bar, side plates, pad, and small black rack. The dealer said it was all compatible, and the description did show that it went with the detachable sissy. I hope he was right!

I will go through it all again. ****.

I've had way more than 10lbs on my rack... on long trips...

Besides cosmetics, what seems to work better? Tapered or no tapered luggage racks?

HD makes a few different shapes and sizes. Pros or cons or any of the designs. Sorry for hijacking the thread .

I personally don't 'get' the tapered racks... grocery run perhaps? But, I got mine to hold 'stuff'... like tent/sleeping bag/tourbag.. so whatever your main use is going to be should dictate the shape/size.
