Have you looked on eBay recently? If you just search "FXDX" there are a few decent looking bikes for less money than you've mentioned... Even if you don't want to purchase off eBay, it still can be a decent indicator for current market values... Sometimes...
So I am just getting really serious about this idea and check out what pops up near by. '01 with an S&S 106". 60,000 miles, but only 3000 on new motor. OG T-sport. Dude wants about $10,750 USD.
A little pricey; does he have all the original bags and covers? 106 S&S is nice (Depends who installed it). It's a real X in that it has the suspension...
I looked for 5 months and traveled 1000 miles across Canada for my FXDXT (and that was before "SOA" came on). It was worth it to me; that bike served me very well for years
Can't see HD ever releasing something like it again; even the HD premium suspension doesn't have rebound adjustment; for that matter neither does most of the aftermarket stuff until you get to Ohlin$
Closure. The '01 fxdxt with the 106" is a no go. Looked at it for an hour, one owner t-sport will OG fairing and bags. I'm pretty particular bout my stuff and the '01's 60,000 miles showed, even with new paint and a new engine. Dude wanted a premium I would expect to pay for a mint condition and would be about straight across on my fxdf. I kept thinking, this is no where near as nice as my bike. Gut says no.
