Default 113 Inch Upgrade

I am trying to do some research on several upgrades that I can do this fall. I was wondering if anyone here has either had the 113 inch kit or knows of someone who has done that upgrade. The parts are all HD and are advertised in the Screaming Eagle cataloge.

I was thinking of going that way but, I haven't been able to talk to anyone who has actually had this done or knows of someone who did.

I would appreciate any input that you all might have.

I did a lot of research before having my 95" kit done and I ended up being some what confused by all the different combinations you could use! What I wanted to acheive was around 100 HP and 100 Torque and I checked out different kits including HD, S&S, Edlebrock, GMR. I also talked with local engine builders and got some really good feedback and I ended up going with a local builder and got what I was hoping for. So I would recommend talking with engine builders who have experience in putting the different components together to get optimum results. I think its worth it!

I am going to look at possibly having an independant do the work. I guess that would open up my options somewhat. Maybe with the S&S kit.

I will keep looking

I've researched this thing alot. WhatI determined is that it is much more cost efective (and easier) to purchase a preassemblebig cube motor and sell your stocker or use it in another frame or something.I was getting quotes of as high as 12 500 to remove machine balance andblue my 88 with all parts and labor.

Holy crap, your kidding aren't you? I think, that for that kind of money I could get a 120 inch JIM's motor.

Thats the point I was trying to make. The positives to the 113 are the retained warrenty and that you don't need to change your title. (apparently you do legal if you change the entire engine). BUt yeah alot of money huh lol. Now the other option is to buy a factory 103" for about 6 g's and that still leaves your engine to ebay or save for another project. Its not 113 but it is alot cheaper/ easire on the long run.

I did the 95" kit for a total of $3,500 which included parts and labor. Parts included heads, gear driven cams, flat top pistons, lifters, adjustable pushrods, gasket sets and bore cylynders. I'm sure the 113" would cost more, how much more I don't know. But it would seem to me that you should be able to get it done for $5,000 tops?

Your not taking into account the number of parts invovled and the about of labor required to assemble a 95" is basically just a parts swap with a 103 even there are issues with the cases being split passages having to be resized. Its a big job. I'm leaning hard towards the 103 preassembled engine and then recaming it later and maybe a areocharger or soem gigle juice to get it up the 150-160 range. Plus you need to add the heavy gearset to your tranny to keep all the cogs on the inside.

I hear ya! It's a big job and a lot of moola no matter how you toss it! I got lucky and found a local builder that did a lot of work for a fair price for a 95" kit. I know the 113" is a lot more work and parts. Sounds like you're on the right track though. When you get it done let us know how it worked out and hopefully you'll get the numbers you're expecting.
