03 Wide Glide help
thanks to you cats, mission was a success. I attempted to teach/coach my friend on wrenching on his ride and the absolute necessity of owning service and parts manuals. And obviously each task he takes on he should buy the right tool for the job which makes the job go easier.
The real eye opener for him was he had just got the bike back from the dealer who had put on a new tire, rotor, pads axle bearings, replace speedo and fixed the scratch on the tank that the dealer did previously when they replaced his neck bearings (~$800) to the tune of close to ~$1800! Now of coarse I didn't ask to see his receipts, but without belittling him(too much), I believe I demonstrated to him, he is more than capable to repair his bike by having the proper manuals and tools. Plus the pride you get from wrenching on your bike is Priceless.
The frustrating part for me is this cat does some unbelievable stone, tile, and woodwork and has mad remodeling skills and has been under the spell of the dealer, since he bought his first Springer years ago, that motorcycle repair is a black art and can only be done properly by them. I believed the veil has been lifted and he now sees the light of truth!
So once again, thank you for your help getting a brother back into wind!
Have a great 4TH of July everyone!
