I moved the mirrors on my 2010 Super Glide Custom to underneath the bars by switching right to left and left to right. The warning about "Objects ...." is now upside down . I obviously also moved my front turn signals. Be sure to check mirror to tank clearance at lock in both directions to make sure this mod will work with your bar / riser combination.
I've seen some other Dyna's with the flipped mirrors, but most complain about the view. I like the style, but for safety sake maybe we should leave that to the Nighster/Iron crowd.
It looks nice. I hope it works for you. I tried on my FXDC with 10" apes and found I had to lift my elbow to see the rear view mirror. Kinda inconvenient so I bought a set of Ness mirrors that are smaller and put them back on top
bigdogidaho The view looking forward over the bars is cleaner, no mirrors blocking part of the view. The view of the rear in the mirrors I also find better in that with the mirrors mounted above the bars I adjusted them so that I could just start to see my shoulders in the inner part of the mirror. I now adjust the mirrors so that I just start to see my upper torso so I have the increased vision on each side directly behind me about the thickness of my upper arm area on each side.
irensby I can see where your elbows could get in line of sight through the mirrors with some bar / riser combos. This won't work with all setups.
admwyne I agree in that I wouldn't recommend it to anyone that felt it wasn't safe. Having actually tried it, I find for me personally that I have improved vision as outlined above.
