nothing happens when i turn on the ignition

Hello, I have an 05 fxdwgi with the 95ci motor, i've had it happen a handfull of times where i turn on the ignition and there is no power anywhere, no lights or buzzing, then when i turn it off and on it'll usually turn back on and start up just fine. It seems like it might just be a poor connection somewhere but im not very mechanically inclined when it comes to motorcycles because i've only owned it for 2 years now, any help would be great thank you

I would have to suspect faulty ignition switch contacts, or loose/dirty connections on the back of the switch. Do you have a manual?

just the one that comes with it, i dont have a service manual

I would suggest you get a service manual if you will be doing any of the work yourself. You said you are not too mechanically inclined. I might suggest finding a friend that is or a local Indy shop.

Here's a little how-to on cleaning your ignition switch. It's pretty simple.
Also clean the plug and receiver while you're in there.

thank you for the link to that! i'll try tearing into it later this week, i just had knee surgery last week and i'm getting close to being able to hop back on

The ignition switch is the most likely culprit, but a loose battery ground cable can give intermittent problems. Also check the connections at the battery.
