Odometer Accuracy

Odometer Accuracy
The other night I was riding home from work and stopped for fuel. As I always do, I reset my trip meter after filling the tank. When I pulled into my driveway it read exactly 24 miles, no tenths. Since it was an easy number to remember, I just sat down and plotted the exact same route on Google Maps to see what the distance was... I checked the route carefully to make sure that it was the exact same route that I rode. Total distance according to Google: Exactly 24 miles.
I can't believe that the odometer is that accurate, but the data indicates that it is... I once checked it against ten miles of mileage markers, and I think the odometer showed two tenths less than the markers over that distance (still pretty accurate). I'm led to believe by surveyors that the Google Map data is very good.
I assume that speedometer and odometer accuracy should be the same? If so, my speedometer is basically perfect!
