Default 15 FXDF Clutch Upgrades

hey guys,
its almost that time up here where the snow starts to fly and I have time to do mods haha.
Im wondering what options for clutches there is. I do plan to add more power, just haven't decided on big bore or cams and heads etc but I think most aftermarket clutches would handle either of those mods.

what are the differences between these 2 Barnett options?

Scorpion Low Profile Lock-up Clutch- 2011-16 Big Twins

Part# 608-30-23100

and

Scorpion Clutch and Basket- 2007-16 Big Twins

Part# 698-30-10009

I like the idea of a direct bolt in and want to keep a stock cover but Im kind of getting lost in the numbers and not sure what direction to look in.
any advice is appreciated
thanks!

One big difference is the second option includes a new clutch basket - not a cheap add on.

Most aftermarket clutches should serve you well, not sure you will need the Lock-up type, probably not necessary. The clutch basket is a nice upgrade if you like to romp on your bike a lot: burn outs, hard shifting, etc. I believe the basket Barnett sells is made by Evolution Performance - first class stuff.

I am very happy with my Bandit Sportsman clutch, really don't think you can find a better one...

Here is my Thread installing the Bandit clutch and Evo basket:

The low profile is for an electra glide - not sure why you're looking at it

One comes with the clutch basket - the other does not

One without - will need to press out the hub from the basket (can do this with a socket and hammer..., but then will need to press back in the new clutch hub into your existing clutch basket (will need a press for this..., or can take it to a automotive / muffler shop that has a press - it's pretty easy to do..., and/or should be relative cheap to have done)

Do you need a new clutch basket - imo no..., stock one should work just fine

Barnett is a good clutch

That's a good point about burnouts and hard shifting. Most of the time I take it pretty easy but sometimes I go pretty hard on!
So that second option; the non lockup one would be what I need?
Any other parts to do at the same time? In your thread it looked like you did the compensator as well?

I'm not sure why I was looking at that Electra glide one either. I kinda got lost in the "fits all. Except"
There's nothing wrong with my current basket, I just wanted to see my options

Unless you are going over 110 ci.. IE splitting the cases and boring to a high compression 117 / 120 / 124.. I'd just toss in a set of barnett Kevlar plates and an SE or barnett heavy spring..

That clutch is nice for drag racing but the clutch pull increases as the Rs go up so if you like using the clutch at high RPMs, I'd avoid it. It's a good clutch if you like a little slip down low and shift in the upper Rs without using the clutch.

Your 2015 stock comp with the built in oiling tray is much better than the comp that came with my 2012, no need to change.

All I can say about lockup clutches is that my tuner who I respect above almost anyone is not a fan and has replaced many of them with the Bandit.

The Bandit has about 200% more friction area than stock and will hold any hp/tq plans you will ever have. The pull on my clutch lever feels like stock because of the Bandit's design, much better than adding a heavy duty clutch spring - especially the Barnett one....

Which bandit are you running? Is the part number in your thread?

So I guess the issues with these threads are everyone has their own opinion.
There's nothing wrong with my current clutch. Im going to be removing it to do a 30T front pulley and I wanted to upgrade while it was off. I currently have a stage 1 but I plan to do cams or a 107 and cams. Not a huge power maker but more then stock and I want the clutch to last
