Default Lowrider s backfiring

Has anyone had any issues with their lowrider s backfiring? Mine has done it maybe 8 times since break in but it still makes me wonder if I should take it in and have my bike down for a week or more, or wait til I get my exhaust/tuner and see what happens.

When it backfires, it's only under heavy/wot throttle, usually 2nd or 3rd gear, it back fires once, then I automatically let off the throttle, then it doesn't do it again for a while. It's never done it twice in the same ride, there's no check engine light on. It sounds like it's coming from the exhaust, but I'm not 100%. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

I should have mentioned this before but my bike is stock at this point. I'm getting a d and d fatcat and power vision tuner as soon as they have them for my 2017. I will also be adding the 117 kit once temperatures drop below freezing for the winter. I ride everyday as long as it's 32 degrees or warmer so I really don't want to have my bike down if I don't have to.

Are you sure you aren't bumping up against the rev limiter? Very easy to do on this bike. Don't ask me how I know!

Not helpful to the original question, but what could possibly be different about the 2017? Should be exactly the same as the 2016, for which the PV and pipes are available.

I don't think I'm hitting the rev limiter because I never even go passed redline but I'll watch my rpms closer from now on.

I I agree that everything should be the same but they won't let me order it until their parts are updated to include 2017s.

You're saying it will backfire, then you let off the throttle. Every bike I've ridden that backfired had it happen when the throttle is closed, not under acceleration or WOT.

Yea it happens when I'm taking off hard. I've never had any of my bikes backfire before. It only happens when I'm beating on the bike and it happens higher in the rpms. Again, I never take it to redline.

Do the 117 in the first 60 days so it can be covered under the factory and extended warranty

The rev limiter is set at 5600 from the factory, I believe.

My dealer won't warranty any modifications that require a tune. Of course they claim that it's Harley that won't cover it. I bought a warranty with this bike specifically for modifications (think they called it a JMA warranty? Maybe JBA). When I had my street bob I wanted to do a 110 and they told me if anything goes wrong with the bike, the tune voids the warranty.
